ChatGPT is making writers dumb

I’m fed up with ChatGPT — it’s making people stupid.

Suddenly, everyone thinks they don’t have to use their brain anymore (writing is a form of thinking, right?) because AI has their back and can handle everything on autopilot.

Do you know what ChatGPT does best? Definitely not writing. ChatGPT is great at spewing out generic bullshit. It can't come up with original ideas. It doesn’t make accurate arguments. It can’t tailor content specifically to your customers or create a value proposition that actually resonates. It’s not even persuasive. The only reason it might seem persuasive is that we’ve lowered our expectations so much for written content — it’s just some filler for your website.

Remember the good old days when you could throw in a ton of keywords and rank high on Google? Well, now you can ask ChatGPT to write something that makes sense, but it’s still going to be worthless.

ChatGPT has the ability to make poorly written texts look better, but it’s not a tool for problem-solving. Think of it as a game, where you mix and match different elements to see what comes out.

So don’t fall for the attention-seeking hype around ChatGPT. Watch what it can do, have fun with it, but most importantly, use your own brain to write your damn drafts.
